Initial statements suggested a suspect was in custody; however, authorities later clarified that the situation remains fluid, with law enforcement actively searching for one or more potential suspects. The shooting was reported near the Barus & Holley building, an academic structure dedicated to engineering and physics, featuring 117 laboratories, 29 labs, and various classroom spaces. Kristy DosReis, the chief public information officer for the city, stated that officials are diligently working to gather information from the ongoing scene. The Ivy League institution reported that it serves approximately 7,300 undergraduate students and over 3,000 graduate students, with ongoing final exams for the fall semester on this critical day.
