The Pitt Leads the 2026 Emmys, but Stranger Things and Euphoria Miss the Main Drama Bracket


The medical drama The Pitt and the final season of the comedy Hacks are at the top of the nomination list for this year’s Emmy Awards, with 25 and 24 votes respectively.


The Pitt’s nominations span acting, directing, and producing categories, whereas Hacks’ 24 nods include performances, writing, and comedy ensemble work. British actors are heavily represented: Matthew Rhys sits alone with a double lead‑acting nomination for Widow's Bay and The Beast In Me; other names such as Riz Ahmed, Carey Mulligan, Gary Oldman and Rufus Sewell also appear on the ballot.


In a surprising turn, shows that would normally dominate the drama field – the final seasons of Stranger Things and Euphoria – were relegated to technical categories. Only Zendaya is represented in the main acting field for Euphoria.


Wednesday’s rosters also feature The Bear and Pluribus in comedy and drama categories, but several of their lead actors, including Jeremy Allen White, were omitted from the official lists.


The ceremony will broadcast live in Los Angeles on 14 September, where the final winners across all categories will be announced.
