First Indian Army Woman Boxer Targets Commonwealth Gold
Reigning 57‑kg world champion Jaismine Lamboria has joined the Indian Army and is now focused on winning gold at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
She draws inspiration from cricket legend MS Dhoni’s calm mindset to stay composed during high‑pressure bouts.
After a first‑round exit at Paris 2024, she revamped her physical and mental training with coaches at the Army Sports Institute in Pune.
The army’s Mission Olympics Wing supports her preparation, while the new Girls Sports Company provides a pathway for young girls to pursue elite boxing.
Hailing from Haryana’s boxing hub Bhiwani, Lamboria grew up around boxing greats and aims to inspire the next generation as a role model.
She hopes to turn her bronze from Birmingham 2022 into gold in Glasgow and to represent India with pride on the world stage.
